The Beauty of the 'Passeggiata'
Share
One of my favourite parts of being in Italy is something incredibly simple.
The 'passeggiata'.
As the day winds down, people head outside for an evening walk. Families, friends and neighbours wander through the streets, stop to chat, catch up over a gelato, caffe, drink or simply enjoy being out together.
There's no destination.
No rush.
Just time spent together.
One of my favourite memories involving Tocco came from my recent trip. After a couple of drinks at the Shamrock (a must visit if you're in town), I ended up walking laps around the village with a new friend I'd met. We talked about a little bit about everything from our careers to ideas for the future and what we envisioned the town might become. Before we knew it, the night had finished with a (delicious) gelato in hand.
It wasn't planned.
It wasn't a special occasion.
It was just one of those simple evenings that just hits the spot.
I think that's what the passeggiata is really about.
Making time for conversation.
Getting outside.
Enjoying where you are.
At Semplice, we believe those moments are just as important as any other. Sometimes all it takes is a walk around the block to slow down, reconnect and appreciate the people you're with.
I think we could all use a passeggiata from time to time.
